With no disrespect to the content of the original poster which the
liberal left, protesters and peaceniks are eager to display as a symbol of
their conscientious objections, I would like to offer this alternative rendering as food
for thought.

Remember.... War is a dangerous and unfortunate
business and often "unhealthy". Thankfully our strong and brave
military has historically protected our shores and kept evil and violent
regimes from destroying a fragile order abroad. We've known a
"Healthy" and prosperous peace here for that reason.
This sign recognizes peace and the loyal patriots that defend it each day
with their guts, determination and lives.
While freedom is not, this sign is
free for the asking.
Feel free to copy it, download it and pass it
around. If you would like a large full size poster or a master file

John Stuart Mill: May 20,
1806 - May 8, 1873
John Stuart Mill: An 18th century philosopher and political
economist whose work covered topics such as the "Theory of Liberty",
"Human Rights and slavery", "Utilitarianism" and "Economic philosophy",
wrote the following...
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and
degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is
worth war is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which
is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature
and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions
of better men than himself.

Our "Support our Troops" vigil began shortly after
the 911 attack on the WTC as the Liberal Left began actively protests
opposing any military response. It was our contention that there was
another voice to be heard, one that represented mainstream Americans
demanding a direct all out war on terrorists who had attacked our nation
at home and abroad, time and time again without retribution or remorse, a
patriotic representation of the outrage and infuriation ignited by this
affront which had taken place on our native soil.
Since that time we have dedicated and spent
each of our Sundays between the hours of 11:30am to 1:30pm on the
corner of 12th and Commercial Avenue in Anacortes in support of our military, their mission and the
Commander in Chief. Our
original
nucleus consisted of myself, my wife Mary, another couple,
and two Veterans who join us from Oak Harbor. Over the years we have been
blessed by a number of steadfast supporters. A few of these include
Dave and Kay, Dan and Joyce, Jack and Barb, our good friends Dave and Ed as well as
other friends,
relatives and dedicated conservative community members who often join us or
just stop by to say hello.
Our message has always been uniform and collective,
and has never wavered. First and foremost, we stand in Support of
our Troops! We are proud to stand with our Flags, signs and
banners in support of America, President Bush, his administration and
their dedication to the War efforts and protecting our citizens. We
have a collective belief that anything less than a zero tolerance to
terrorism is unacceptable. We stand in direct opposition to
appeasement and “peace at any cost”, “no war for oil,
anti-Bush, “anti-establishment” solutions offered by the protesters gathered
on the opposite corners of the intersection.
No matter the size of our group on any given day, we are encouraged that
we receive a resounding and positive display of honks, waves, applause
and thumbs-up from the passing motorists. That is MAINSTREAM AMERICA. We
stand, regardless of the weather, in the rain, the cold and the hot sun
without complaint or regret, as our does our military. Passers-by
often bring us hot cocoa, hot coffee, hot cider, and in
the summer they sometimes bring us cold drinks. Although they cannot stand
with us that day, they support our efforts.
You cannot imagine how proud
and pleased we are when Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Soldiers, some just
home on leave from Afghanistan and Iraq, stop their vehicles and get out
and shake our hands and say to each of us individually 'Thank you for
standing up for America and for standing up for us". One young Marine
gave us a box of cookies. We do not know their names and they do not know
ours. We can definitely report that their opinion of the
opposing corners are in concurrence with ours. We have received the
heartfelt gratitude from scores of parents and relatives of those who
serve as well. At other times those who take the time to stop are
simply well wishers taking the time to thank us for the effort.
The group we stand in direct opposition to is organized and consists
of Left Wing members of the local "Celebration Church", joined by folks
from such Soros / Heinz supported and funded organizations as "worldcantwait",
“Not in My Name”, and similar associated groups. These
same folks hang the UN
flag in support of their cause on Sundays.
Not surprisingly the Bush haters are, on occasion,
temporarily augmented by other fragmented groups with their own political
agenda such as a delegation of French activists who joined the protesters on the other corners with
hastily written homemade signs like 'Bush is a Liar" and
"Impeach Bush".
We encourage as many as possible
to join our weekly Sunday vigil between
11:45 am to 1:00pm on the Northwest
corner of 12th and Commercial Avenue in Anacortes. Your participation is
appreciated as well as crucial. Bring Flags, banners and signs expressing
your Support of Our Troops, President Bush and his
administration's War on
Terrorism.
May
God continue to bless these United States
of America! |
