We stand united and steadfast in support
of our troops, our President, our flag and our country. Political
amnesia is not one of our weaknesses. Our message is strong,
consistent and patriotic. It has never wavered. We stand in
opposition to those who would surrender our sovereignty through
negotiation and appeasement. We stand in opposition to those who take
nourishment from and align themselves with the liberal left wing
groups and organizations funded by the Soros / Heinz fortunes and
fueled by the Hollywood hypocrisy. We oppose those who are determined
to undermine our constitution, re-define our history and the destiny
of our country.
I was there when the liberal left and the
ACLU co-hosted a public seminar at the library offering their
interpretation of the Patriot Act. I watched ACLU attorney, acting as
the moderator and educator, cleverly set up contrived scenarios of
offended ethnically profiled minorities who might be inconvenienced or
victimized by the Act, followed by a Seattle based pacifist players
group acting out the skits. Following each scene the moderator would
use his position as a bully pulpit to attack the President, his
administration, and the republicans in general. Finally, I voiced my
opinion, suggesting that the public would be better served by
providing more information on the Patriot Act and less on a biased
political agenda. It became readily apparent that intervention and
confrontation made a marked difference in his presentation. Following
the meeting I made available copies of the Patriot Act and fact sheet
for anyone interested.
I was there, in your face at Storvic Park
when you so arrogantly assumed you had the right to use the names and
memories of those fallen heroes of the Iraq war to serve your own
misleading and very slanted political agenda. Then in a vain and
failed attempt, in my opinion, to sanctify it and justify it you
called it a memorial?
I was there when you were informed by a
relative of one of the fallen that in the last letter she received her
beloved had told her how much he believed in his mission and of his
intent to re-enlist. I was there when an irate mother in tears and a
father in a fit of outrage, parents’ whose son was on leave and would
shortly be en-route to Iraq chastised you for your deception.
I was there when your flyers were
circulated in our community, our schools and posted in our public
library promoting your day of national hatred for our President and
our way of life. The following excerpt is from that flyer.
Anacortes, 12:00 Noon
Meet at Causland Park
Students: Organize your campus
RESIST OR DIE! NO SCHOOL NOV. 2
The flyer was a printout of the sponsoring
organization’s Web page. I invite anyone reading this to visit the
worldcantwait Website at
http://www.worldcantwait.org. Read
the rhetoric steeped in sedition, anarchy and treason. Witness the
contempt and disdain for our country, its policies, values and
history, openly advocating the overthrow of our government. Decide
for yourself if such an organization, under any pretense, is capable
of hosting a peaceful event.
I was there, in your face, at Causland
Park, before noon on November 2nd, joined by six others who
were equally offended and concerned that an organization so steeped in
hatred for our President, our government and our nation’s history
would attempt to recruit and indoctrinate students from within our
schools.
Imagine our amazement when a group of
these students asked if we had signs or banners that they could carry
in support of the troops, their President and their country. These
students were inspired and moved to volunteer of their own accord.
They were not recruited. I have never been more proud of our younger
generation as I was that day.
I have heard mention and seen written, the
comparison of this group of patriotic minded students to the Nazi
Brownshirts of the ‘30’s. Might I suggest to you that the recruitment
of the youth within our community and schools by “worldcantwait.org”
and other hate-based organizations for the specific purpose of
organizing and indoctrinating them with malcontent, hatred and a
biased, misleading and bordering-on-untruthful political agenda is
much closer to the actual Nazi doctrine than I care to imagine?
There are references to a permit being
granted allowing the activist demonstrators the use of the park on
November second. The fact is that there was no permit. Might I also
inform you that, as patriotic demonstrators, we were endowed with the
same constitutionally given right to present our opposing views?
I have heard that we rudely attempted to
drown out the activist speakers and prevent them from being heard.
Might I remind you that your speakers controlled the forum, the public
address system and the microphone? I had no trouble hearing the
activist speaker as she made the following statements?
“… the President is a killer and a liar.”
“….the troops are killing children in Iraq because it’s their job, not
something they want to do.”
“….the Constitution of the United States needs to be thrown out and
rewritten because it’s a document written behind closed doors by
thirteen slave owners.”
These and other extremely biased and
widely disputed versions of the truth from an avowed anarchist over a
public address system was directed to a group of impressionable and
likely not very well-informed students who should have been in school
learning history, politics and needed academic subjects. Following
this questionable enlightenment, they were lead through the streets
under a pink banner of “Peace and Justice” in a very Nazi-like manner,
finally reaching their destination, a previously retained private
conference room in the World building on the corner of
Commercial and 7th, for further indoctrination and
discussion.
That was the only time. I’m sorry to say,
that I was not in your face. Someone should have been.
I have heard and read that we were
“rabble” who attacked a peace rally, that we interfered with someone’s
right to assemble, and that we should have been charged with assault.
I can assure you that no attack, violence, rioting or assault took
place on November 2nd. However, if waving the American flag and
carrying signs that say we support our troops and our President
offends you, I suggest that you should prepare to be offended on a
regular basis.
I have heard and read repeatedly that you
didn’t get a fair shake in the elections because not enough people
voted. Is it possible that had more people voted, you may have
suffered a greater loss by a larger margin than was documented?
I respect your right to assemble and
peaceably protest. I respect the person from your side of the street
with the sign, “Pray for Peace”. We also pray for peace. The issue
is in how peace is achieved. I do not concur with your right to
desecrate our flag and what it stands for. I am disgusted by your
association with an organization who would recruit within our schools.
I passionately protest your attempts to discredit our Constitution and
the suggestion that you alone are more capable of rewriting the
greatest document written by men, to grant mankind life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness. I totally disagree with your attempts to
repudiate the results of an election because you were not satisfied
with the results.
I’m appalled by your veiled protest in the
guise of peace and indignation while you march in lockstep and
associate yourself with hate groups
like “worldcantwait.org” and its nemesis, “notinmyname”. That
association is a contradiction in terms, the ultimate oxymoron in
nature.
A direct quote from worldcantwait.org “We
must, and can, arm to create a political situation where the Bush
regime’s program is repudiated. Where Bush himself is driven from
office, and where the whole direction he has been taking society is
reversed.”
Know this. Our President, and yours, is
not the enemy... The enemy we need fear is easily identified and
statistically profiled. They are:
• Those who randomly hijacked commercial
aircraft, took hostages, terrorized and bombed numerous passenger
planes from the air for two decades
•Those who engaged in the attack on the
Munich Olympics
• Those who attacked the US Embassy in
Iran in 1979.
• Those who kidnapped numerous Americans
and killed 241 American servicemen in bombings in Lebanon during the
‘80s
• Those who bombed the WTC in 1993 killing
6 and injuring over 1000
• Those who bombed the US Embassies in
Kenya and Tanzania in 1998
• Those who attacked the USS Cole in Yemen
in 2005 killing 17 and injuring 39
• Those who hijacked and flew the
airliners into the World Trade Center killing 2,752 , the Pentagon
killing 189 and left 44 heroic Americans dead in a field in
Pennsylvania on 911
• Those who kidnapped and publicly
decapitated their victims on television before the entire world
These were all Muslim Islamic extremists
between the ages of 17 and 40. You do not negotiate, nor do you
peacefully co-exist with terrorists and extremists. Appeasement is
not a solution.
Stay the course! A united and
free Iraq setting the tone for independence in the Middle East is a
powerful ally. A fragmented Iraq is but clay to be molded by
civil wars, Muslim extremists, and ultimately, the next Saddam
Hussein. The worst case scenario, and one not far removed, would
be an Iraq absorbed by Iran, then in a position to encompass Saudi
Arabia and Kuwait and attempt to destroy Israel. A nuclear
powered Iran in control of the Middle East and its resources would be
the world’s ultimate nightmare. The war in Iraq is a war we
must win!
We’ll be there, as long as it takes,
carrying the flag and the “Support the Troops”, “Support the
President”, and “God Bless America” signs, in the company of familiar
faces, united in a common cause. We’ll continue to talk to and shake
the hands of the brave young men and women who stop to thank us while
home on leave, those who are shipping out and those who are just
returning. We’ll continue to write letters and send care packages
wrapped in love and support for their sacrifice. We’ll continue to
wave and smile back to the many proud Americans who show their support
as they pass by.
