TAKE A STAND

We must support our president and our troops
While driving on Commercial Avenue on Sundays, I've noticed the people standing in front of Safeway and the service station across the street. I always thought, "What a great nation this is that we can express our opinions and beliefs without fear of being imprisoned or worse.''

I never really thought much about the messages on the signs the people carry until I happened to read the large advertisement article by Andy Stevens in the newspaper last week.

After reading the article twice, I came to the conclusion that there are elements in this nation that would prefer a different kind of country and government. I took the time to visit the Web site mentioned and was horrified at the hate and anger this organization has for the president.

I also had no idea our school children have been exposed to this brand of hatred by a so-called peace group. I saw no evidence of peace in the material I viewed.

How little these people must care about this nation that they are willing to tear down everything this country has achieved in over 200 years. It appears to me there are two enemies we are now fighting, one that wants to destroy the nation through acts of terror and the enemy within that wants to destroy it through lies, deceit and socialism.

If you call yourself an American, then it's time to show your support for the president and the men and women fighting to make sure our children and grandchildren have the same freedoms we enjoy today.

As for me, I'm taking my flag and joining the people in front of the service station this Sunday, because today, I just realized I do support the troops, the president and this great country. It may have its faults and it's not perfect, but it's America and it's my America.
