Attitudes at the corner may need some adjusting
The “Peaceful Assembly?” letter in last week’s issue provides example and allows insight into chronic discontent.

That the writer attests to her six years of protesting betrays the new angry position regarding the Iraq war and her difficulties at 12th and Commercial (even with our police). The writer clearly has been a discontent long before the gripes she uses to fill her letter.

We have all known negative people. Though they prompt compassion in us, we remember that their salvation is not our responsibility. Peace can come to them after a willful retrospective evaluation of themselves.

(Historical note: Local anti-military protesters were on 12th and Commercial prior to the U.S./UN entering Afghanistan.)
